The Holy Spirit

Sometimes I think Pastor Lee can read my mind. I guess that's the power of a person known as "The Holy Spirit."

Tonight, at church, we learned a little about this mysterious member of the Holy Trinity. Here are my notes...

  • John 16: 5-15 is the defininitive teaching of Jesus Christ about the Holy Spirit.
  • Holy Spirit gives us access to the same anointing Jesus himself had, but en masse.
  • In Greek, the Holy Spirit is called parakletos, or helper. This draws the image of someone picking up a weak or wounded soldier during battle and carrying him to safety.
  • 1 Corinthians 2:6-12. The Holy Spirit reveals the deep things of God. There are shallow (obvious) things that speak to God's glory, like the grandness of creation. But the Holy Spirit takes us to the next level.
  • The Holy Spirit is like a nerve ending connecting us to God.
  • Proverbs 25:2. I am king!

I have to say, this teaching went right to the heart of many things that I have personally been struggling with. It blows my mind that Jesus said that having the Holy Spirit is better than having Him here in the flesh! That's how good we have it!
